It's another miserable day for flood-stricken Queensland, with parts of Brisbane being evacuated after the city's river burst its banks on Tuesday afternoon. Local reports say the Brisbane roads that haven't been closed due to flooding are choked with fleeing residents.

Yesterday, flash floods roared through a valley nearby, crashing through the city of Toowoomba and bringing the death toll from the ongoing floods to 18, with scores more still missing. Early Tuesday morning, emergency workers plucked residents off their rooftops, and thousands were ordered to evacuate their homes and businesses that are in that water's predicted path.

I do miss Australia, big time, and I just feel so heartbroken this is happening. The weather in that country is so unbelievable chaotic.

I'm in NSW right now. Australians are shocked! Finally the rain has stopped, but the flooding continues as dams have to be relieved of the water load.

Despite the chaotic weather, there are 'Climate Change Deniers' in the Federal government who are slowing down legislation. The Australian people are divided, but many are committed to environmental stewardship, recognising that less is best. I locked my car in the garage 12 months ago. I walk and use public transportation. Can't do that in California or in most of the US. The infrastructure just isn't there.

Maybe 2011 will be the year of the 100th monkey....Surely there are enough 'believers' now to evoke a political shift. I am an optimist - the alternative is unthinkable.

I used to live in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast, 1 hour North of Brisbane, but I also used to live in North Queensland as well.

Never in my years being there did I ever face or see that much flooding. Cyclone Larry missed my town, I did get some of the Duststorm from 2009, Goldie did experience a crazy brief flash flood when I was still there, but this is just truly breaking my heart.

Was watching the news this morning and it was so sad to see.

Australians have a magical human spirit, more than I have seen in most countries. They are an amazing people. They go through a lot but they don't let it beat them down.
